Shuraku - a Japanese restuarant not to be missed!
I've always enjoyed about Chef Edwin's Japanese Culinary skills when he was firstly in Aoyama, then Hajime became my favourite Japanese restaurant when he moved there. Now. since he's opened up a cosy little Japanese bar cum eatery in Solaris, this has got to be my no.1. Sake and other alcoholic choices are a plentiful and food are not the usual stuff you get in other Japanese restuarants. Note: They do not serve sushi! As usual, we'll just leave it to Edwin to whip up a scrumptious meal for us. Just surprise us....
Well, for 2 people, this is what we were served (at a maximum hunger level)...I am salivating already!
Our very first dish:-Nama haru Maki - Unagi beautifully wrapped with rice paper rolls with a hint of cheese inside - heavenly!

Pardon me that most of the dishes don't have their Japanese because we basically left it to him to whip up our feast!
Next came the fried chicken topped with mayo, some special sauce and fried garlic. Another wonder!

The scallop with cheese is a MUST HAVE. So beautifully done you'd wish you can learn this dish and seal your man's heart!

The 'char siew' that melts in your mouth and topped with mustard. I swear I've never tasted char siew in a Japanese restaurant that tender and mouth watering before!

No it ain't banana split - it's deep fried chicken cartilage. Mayonaise laced with chili powder goes so well with it!!

And finally, when we were stuffed to the throat, they served us our final dish - pork noodles (which were a little translucent in nature). Well, I won't call this dish a disappointment, but it's very average tasting- or it could be due to the fact that I had one of the best tasting ramen in Tokyo last year that nothing ever comes close!
The bill came up to about RM180 for two people, including alcohol. Definitely reasonably priced!Very easy to locate - it's just above the Maybank as you enter into Solaris on the 2nd floor.
Add: 13-2, Jalan Solaris Mont Kiara 1, Solaris Mont Kiara, off Jalan Duta.
Tel: +603 6203 0561Opening hours: Daily, 6pm - 12.30am
And finally, one plus point was that service is great and some of their staff are even conversant in Japanese!

Bert and Ernie Raps
This video of Bert and Ernie is hee-la-rious. Listen with Speakers
The lack of quality posts lately is due to the fact that I'm still very busy sorting out the new online store - DressTalk. Good news is, we've got a few enquiries and some purchases - and things seem to be taking off pretty well, but there's just so much more to be done while waiting for the first batch of clothes to arrive from our suppliers.
So meanwhile, be entertained with this youtube clip of Bert and Ernie.
Can't wait for tonight where by couz WF, who is an apprentice chef will be coming over to whip up a steak meal for both her family and mine!!! Ooohh can't wait. Probably get her recipes and post it soon!

Pre Launching of our new online clothes shopping website!!!!
On another note, lame V'day joke I heard:
Yellow Chimp caught a colleague of his, XXX surfing the net for flowers (I am putting XXX and not naming just in case the flowers did not goto the intended person) a day prior to Valentine's day. Decided to tease him about it and sent a mail to him, c.c-ed Yellow Chimp and XXX's close buddy YYY.
"Wah someone looking for florist at this time only!!"
Came the lame response from YYY
"What's a florist. Someone who makes floors is it?"

SMS Etiquette
Me: Where is dinner on Saturday?
Dad: Super Tanker (restaurant) @ 6.30
Ok. Left the sms as it is. Got the answer I wanted.
Couple of days later, he brought up the topic and gave me a good err..won't call it sounding or trashing - Ok, let's call it Piece of Advice.
"How come few days ago you ask me something on sms and you never reply me."
But what's there to reply. I asked a question, he replied - end of story.
Oh I later found out, it is SMS etiquette to at least acknowledge with a Yes/No/Thanks.
But isn't that wasting like 15 cents. Yes - But it's still etiquette!!
Then what about those friends of mine who can't be bothered replying sms-es even when a question with a big "?" is posed? Or those who acknowledge you sms days or even weeks later - and the excuse is "busy-la" or "what's there to reply?"
If I were to send you an sms with some contents like say for example, "MAS got cheap air fare now...". What are you meant to reply me to show u have sms etiquette?
I then asked around - and oh yes, apparently there are many people who are really mindful that you don't acknowledge their sms-es! So from now on folks, have some DECENT SMS etiquette ok!!!
XOXO
