My official complaint letter to SILK AIR
The purpose of this letter is to make a fomal complaint against SILK Air and your staff.
This flight has been one of the worst experiences ever.
I was meant to take the MI337 6.15pm flight from KL- Singapore on October 4, 2009 with my colleague. Not only was the flight delayed for 4 hours and 15 minutes, the passengers were not given ANY UPDATES at all throught the entire period. Listed below is the chronology of events that would make any normal passenger's blood boil.
1) At 6.15, we were told that the flight was to be delayed to 6.30. At 6.30 we were told to wait till 7.30pm. After that there were totally no more announcements on the status of the flight until boarding time at 10.30pm.
2) At 8pm, we were told to go and have a meal and come back sharp at 9 pm as the airport staff have absolutely no clue of what's happening and airline staff were no where to be found. They promised that by 9pm, we would get an update of the flight status.
3) We were told at 8pm that the engineering staff could not be located and thus, checks to airplane have not begun. Airline staff have been contacted and would be up to answer our queries shortly. A refreshment voucher worth RM10 was given to each customer for either a meal at Delifrance or Burger King. We all very well know that you can barely get anything decent in KLIA for less than RM10.
4) At 9pm, we were told by airport staff that they are still unsure if we are able to take the 9.45pm flight to Singapore. An airline personnel by the name of Dexter finally showed up but he did not have any updates either and told us to refer to the Senior Manager, a lady whom I did not get her name. She vanished 10 minutes later and never came back. Airport staff promised by 9.15 pm we would get our updates on whether we would be flying off that night or the airline would arrange for accomodation for us for the night.
5) Many frustrated passengers at this time were already getting impatient and wanted answers from Mr Dexter. However, I am not sure if he was hard of hearing or just plain rude, he chose to ignore more of our questions and I have heard many passengers asking for his name to lodge an official complaint about his unbecoming behaviour and this level of customer service.
6)9.20pm and still no answers. I informed Dexter that we were not going to wait anymore and would prefer to take the first flight out on October 5th instead of waiting in vain as there were no updates from the airline still at this point (many other passengers have directly called SILK AIR just to be told ' please wait for further advice'). He told us that he would get back to us within a minute to arrange for alternatives for us BUT HE JUST DISAPPEARED AND NEVER CAME BACK UNTIL WE BOARDED AT 10.30pm. We later saw him sitting down right below the plane on the runway doing nothing (we have taken a photo of him as proof, if you would like ,we will gladly attach this picture). How much more ridiculous can you get?
7) Airport staff also informed us that they have tried to contact engineering staff, who were now working in the aircraft but to no avail as NOBODY WAS PICKING UP THE PHONE AND NOBODY FROM THE AIRLINE COULD BE CONTACTED. This is seriously irresponsible and ridiculous for an airline of your standards.
8) We were told that we were unable to get on the other flights to Singapore as priority would be given to business class and PPS club members. However, at 9.20pm , there were 5 seats available and a Japanese man travelling with 3 other companions shouted to the lady over the counter (airport staff) that he wanted the other 4 seats and he was immediately booked on that flight. Another lady with 2 other companions then questioned this desicion to put the Japanese man and not the others as it was already stressed that passengers with PPS cards and business class would be given TOP PRIORITY.
We are indeed very disappointed and angered by this event and I hope that you will have a proper explanation and apology for the passengers who were on board MI 337 on October 4th 2009 - the RM10 dollars refreshment CANNOT BE REGARDED AS A COMPENSATION FOR THE 4 hours and 15 minutes delay. The lack of communication between the airline and airport staff has not only caused inconvenience to passengers but also wasted a lot of our time. I left my house at 4.15 pm for the 6.15pm flight and only stepped out of Singapore Changi Airport at 12.00am. The time it has taken me, I could have just driven down at the comfort of my own car rather than be stuck in the airport with a bunch of totally imcompetent and unprofessional airline staff.
I look forward to your explanation on this matter or you can rest assure that neither myself, nor family or friends would be encouraged to take SILK AIR in future.
** OK must let Mr Jimmy Lai/ Mr Yellow Chimp do some england and grammar correcting before I send this off!**
Let's wait for their reply! tsk tsk. Oh and BTW, when we boarded the plane, just before it took off, we were informed by the pilot that the flight was delayed as lightning had struck the plane when it was on the way to KLIA from Singapore and checks had to be done according to airline standards.
SILK AIR...
I am so drafting my **bitch mode** letter to the airline tomorrow.
Was compensated a miserable RM10 refreshment voucher in either DeliFrance or Burger King. Wah, how generous of them!
Will update more on the delay tomorow. Right now..i need my beauty sleep!

Glitters or Soong Ai Ling Nail Spa?
Last night I decided to try Glitters which is on the same floor as Celebrity Fitness and being a member, the nail and waxing salon offers you a 10% discount.
Here are 5 reasons why I won't use them again and will remain loyal to Soong Ai Ling's chic nail spa.
1) The place obviously looked nothing like a spa that would be located in Bangsar Village. Deco was one but level of cleanliness......hmmmm
2)The Chinese lady over the counter did not even flash her pearly whites to at least give a smile to customers when they walk in. A potentially disgruntled employee?
3) When another customer walked in at around 8 pm, **overheard** late for her booking Chinese lady 1 spoke to chinese lady 2 in Mandarin,' You're going off early is it? So don't want to take this customer la right.' Wow, and I thought they don't close until 9 ish.
4) Lin called me halfway through my mani and I was asking her opinion on the toes colour to match my blue cheongsam (thank u Frank again!!) and we could not decide. I then asked the lady for her advice. "My dress is really dark blue what colour should I opt for". U won't believe this, she repeated after me,'Blue colour?' Flipped the nail colour charts and kept quiet. Ok so I'm meant to understand telepathic communication???
5) My mani was done around 8 and the lady left it to dry under those quick dry fans. Within a few minutes, she had changed out of her uniform and left the premises without even waiting for my nails to dry or see if I needed a touch up. What rubbish !!! I mean seriously if your staff can't wait to get off work at 8, don't take any bookings at 7.30pm. The lady beside me requested for 1 nail to be re-done by her manicurist (chinese lady 2) as it was uneven but here was another staff rushing to get off work and she just added another layer on top.
But to give them some credit, the foreign workers did a fantastic job with my toes and the other foreign lady who stayed back was extremely helpful to both the me and the other customer.
For RM 67 after my 10% discount after both the mani and pedi (which is cheaper than SIL's spa, definitely), I am pretty certain I won't visit them again, especially not after what Sarah told me : her nails chipped badly after her first visit to their 1 Utama branch.
I won't say that it has been all that unpleasant (at least "Are you smarter than a 5th grader" was showing on TV for me to kill my time) but it's definitely not worth the price you're paying for the level of service and cleanliness.

To Arthur! and Janice's Farewell
Last night we had a mini farewell for Janice, who will be heading off to Japan to further her Nihon-Go studies this coming Sunday. After dinner in USJ, we headed back to Bangsar South to meet up with George and Danny just to be told that SIDS is packed. Made a detour and headed towards Finnegans on Jalan Telawi to celebrate Arthur Guinness' 250th Birthday in style! According to my 'tong chi' Joanna, Malaysia has the 5th highest number of Guinness drinkers in the world and to think I was a real late starter (ahem..influenced again by my alchy friend whose name starts with the capital C)
I was also told that in European countries, only fat, old women drink Guinness. So to all the hot chics back home good on ya!
Priced at RM11 nett for 1/2 pint, we drank like there's no tomorrow (I wish!). Was a good night out with lots of pictures taken and Jayson happily snapping away with his brand new RM3800 Olympus camera (which Khoo-san reminding us repeatedly ..RM3800...RM3800)
While Calene is holidaying away in Salzburg this weekend, the rest of us back home are keeping ourselves contented with our fix of Guinness. (hehe..don't u miss us back home Cal)
Here's a group pose of my classmates from Jap class (Back L-R (backsides facing the camera):- Jayson, Loo Moon and Sammi Front L-R: yours truly, Khoo and the lucky girl who's going to Japan, Janice)
Here's the Rm3800 Olympus camera. Jayson's new baby apart from his Tofu Car (think jay Chou in Initial D)
And finally, here's a picture of the very bloated George and me..

Hanamco - The Alcoholic's Haven
So this is exactly what we did. Head down to the neighbourhood bar, Hanamco - multi tap bar restaurant for a couple of beers. What caught my attention was the James Squire - Buy 2 bottles for SGD23.90 and get a free plate of what else, my fav wingssss!
The happy hour rates at the bar....if only we had sucH prices in KL for imported beers, I'd probably be drunk 24/7. Ahhhhh Victoria Bitter..makes me wonder what my dream guy (the Indian dude) is doing in Melbourne at this very hour..HAHA
We opted for Silly Saison, a Belgium beer first as many of the draft beer were not available. As recommended by the waiter, 'Creamy, fruity taste with a hint of bitterness'. The first gulp after a hard day's work - heavenly. The only downside, it did have that bitter aftertaste.
Being the Kiasu people as we are, we had 2 bottles of the James Squire Golden Ale- an Aussie beer. It just gets better doesn't it! Strangely, I've never tried this nor seen this during my studies in Melbourne. Fresh and fruity brew with a dry finish - just perfect for a lazy Thursday night (minus the mozzies of course!).
Finally, we had our 3rd and final jug- yet another Aussie product, Pure Blonde - low carbs beer product. Suitable for ppl like me who desperately want to shed some pounds but without that WILLPOWER!!! Light, crisp and aromatic, just perfect to finish off the night and not getting you too drunk.
Suddenly I sound like a beer promoter girl with my tight minis! Urrghh!
Bill came up to about SDG61 for the night. Pretty good deal huh!
Just some final pics of the fridge filled with all kinds of beer. Really the alcoholic's saviour after a week in a god forsaken place!! Back to KL tomorrow..wheee wheetttt...and off to Bangkok with the bia****s for Lin's hen's night for 3 days! Till then adios readers.
XoXo...doing a second check of this post in case Mr Perfecto England Jim Lai comments on my Not-so-perfect-english
