What is a BIDET?

After dinner at a restaurant in a poshy hotel last night, XYZ showed us to her room and her toilet subsequently.

She exclaimed ' there are two bowls in my room!'

Amazed, I asked if that is the bowl for the men to pee (I mean after all women do get annoyed at men who leave their traces all over)- and she thought it may have to do with washing your hands. Instantly, I heard 2 uncontrollable laughters from the 4 people in the room.

Yes, and I had to go back and do a google search to know how to spell bidet once I found out its actual usage.

Sua-koo girl in the big city!! This is so embarassing.......

The day where just about anything would go wrong...

I woke up with a splitting headahce.

I got ready for work and put a bottle of water in my bag. Unknowingly, the bottle cap was not screwed tightly.

The next thing I knew, my bag was soaked in water and my camera, phone, purse - just about everything else was swimming in the bag.

Now the camera won't budge - it has this weird ' sheee sheee' sound once I put the battery in and the phone's on/off button won't work! Arrrgghhh and my poor Canon Ixus 80IS is only about a year old.....

I guess I know where I'll be spending my increment.....sighhhhhh and it's only 10.44 am. What more could go wrong?

Doraemon Calculator

I have been getting all negative reactions from friends after I tell them I bought this DORAEMON calculator. Well, it only costs SGD14 (times 2.4) at a little stall in Kaki Bukit. Not a bad deal right??

But Jack said I must have fever and he's not gonna be frens with me.

Someone else said 'OMG, so lame, why don't buy one with Bert?'. Not that I don't want, but I can't find one.

Then someone also asked me, 'Too much money is it now?'

Hmm...but it's really too cute to resist wor....Most importantly, it is huge and I won't need to squint my eyes to look at the numbers when calculating my assets!

Dolce Vita at the Mandarin Oriental Singapore

I had the luxury to be treated to dinner at Dolce Vita at the Mandarin Oriental Singapore tonight (run by Michelin star Chef Chef Marco Pedrelli).

A restaurant that overlooks the Singapore Eye and the pool, with good ambience.

Before I proceed, please do not mind my awful photography skills (Yea..i know it makes the food look less appetizing...but nevertheless it was a fantastic dinner altogether).
Our starters- the waitress mumbled some italian name which did not make sense to me. By tasting it, I could make out that one was a vege dish and the other on the plate was some raw fish. I loved the raw fish.
Their May promotion was white asparagus. We had our starters of pan fried scallops with white asapragus flown in from Germany. Simply superb! You can tell that white asparagus are bigger in diameter and crunchier -and of course they're white and not green.
You can hardly get good risotto in KL - which is one of my favourites. This truffles risotto was just the thing I dish I needed to settle my cravings.
My colleague opted for a 3 combination pasta (which is made in house - all their pastas) as recommended by the chef.
Never ever finish an Italian meal without their desserts. I'm a really bad food reviewer. I alwasy forget to take the names of stuff I eat. All I can remember is that I had some strawberry with cream and sorbet.
While my colleague completed her dinner with a tiramisu.

I was totally stuffed after dinner - but already looking forward to my next Mandarin food experience because they boast a fantabulous buffet range (best tandoori it seems!!!)

Sloth..

I've been feeling so lazy lately that I can't even think of a decent topic to blog about. My brain prabably works as slow as this caterpillar's movement ( a pic I captured weeeeeks back...but too lazy to do anything about it and just left it in my camera). And with my recent bout of flu (definitely not the H1N1 as I am still alive after almost 2 weeks) my sluggishness worsens.

Did the New Balance 15km run yesterday - a 15km virgin (I normally only do 10) with Hedz. By the 10th km mark, we were that exhausted that we deicded to walk the last 5km, hence finishing in 2 hrs. (Hedz' was slightly faster as he was rushing off to the toilet for his towards the last km, he decided he needed to use the loo badly). Not too bad considering I saw my once upon a time 'crush', still looking 'sexy' as ever after his 15km run - with all that icky sweat. Whoaa..hehehe

BTW, did I mention that I am currently in Singapore again! Went to Waraku at Starhub Centre with Taki. Stupidly I left my purse (with all the SGDollars) at the office and took the cab to Orchard. Thank god the guy had a credit card machine in his cab, otherwise, I'll probably be blogging from my cell in guy since Taki was late too in meeting me - maybe he would have accepted RM!

The food there used to be 'ichiban'. They've since renovated and all I can say about tonight's dining experinece is - disappointment.

Apart from the Salmon Avocado Salad which was yummy-licious, the rest of the food were either too sweet, too bland, or simply just did not taste good.

Ok..their stick cakes for SGD2.80 was a pretty good deal and something different. I had the green tea tiramisu and it tasted like one of those ice cream on biscuits you get from your local ice cream vendor on their bicycles.

They have definitely lost one customer here.

Adios folks...till my next ahem 'decent' post when I am less lazy, less stressed from upcoming exams, cured from my flu......

Another year older....

Another year has passed. We're back at El Cerdo (click to see website) celebrating Jimmy's birthday.

Here's one happy birthday boy who doesn't mind getting a year older!

Here's Jimmy trying out his birthday present from KS.....oh so vain!!!

And such a fullfilling porky oink oink meal. Mind the cholesterol later la!!! Eat first! Suffer the consequences later.
Did not do the ordering, just took the role of the 'eater', so I did not really take note of the names...but every pork dish was so so so succulent, juicy and the oh-so-tender piglet!!
My favourite, ham with rock melon........

One bottle of wine and one pint of Hoegaarden each.....here we are trying to pose for the camera

I think they held on to the piggy for 5 seconds before Joanna (right) could not take it...
XoXO.....

Furious? Depressed? Agitated? Just shoot me!

Lately, I've been really agitated - perhaps it's the weather, perhaps it's the constant insults thrown at me, perhaps I'm nearing 30 (in 2 1/2 years) and feeling shitty about it. If killing was legal, I would have probably got a gun and put a bullet through some people's head.

I wonder, how some people can go on and on daily, and I really mean it daily, telling you're fat and controlling your every food intake - counting the calories of every damn thing you eat. Or just pointing out how big certain parts of your body are - and comparing it against theirs. Seriously, give me a break - I ain't obese.

Then there is the insensitive B*ST**D whom at every MSN conversation has to have some element of sex related conversations with you. If you're gonna go on a holiday with a guy, without shame he asks if you're gonna sleep with the guy. You tell him you're going to visit some guy friends when you're out of the country, he never fails to remind you to ask the guy to buy a condom in case you guys get up to some hanky panky stuff. You tell him you're going clubbing, he chuckles and insists you shouly try having a one night stand. Now come on - is that sex obsession or what? Show the girl some respect will ya!

Sigh, B, humour me with your pointless conversations!

Khir Toyo...

Do you seriously think us Malaysians are a dumb bunch?

I don't know whether to laugh or cry when I read The Star online on his say on the allegations upon him.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Last month, the bosses of Permodalan Negeri Selangor Bhd (PNSB), Kumpulan Darul Ehsan Bhd (KDEB) and PKNS and others testified at the Selcat hearing and some of their disclosures were shocking - that RM1.7mil was paid for DisneyWorld and DisneyLand “technical” trips, RM200,000 for a Jogjakarta trip and that they paid the air tickets for Dr Khir’s maid to go on the trips and that they got instructions from the (then) Mentri Besar to sponsor Balkis events.
Denying any wrongdoing, Dr Khir who chose not to attend the Selcat inquiry, gives his side of the story. He also says that he will never forgive Pakatan Rakyat until he dies for smearing his reputation.
UMNO

Q: Datin Khairiyah said your delegation did not meet anyone from the Disney World management team?

A: The arrangement was done by the PNSB management. On the itinerary, there was supposed to be a meeting with them but I don’t know why they cancelled it. You cannot blame me for it. (What? So he's unaware he has such an inefficient and a stupid management team?)

Q: You said you do not know why they cancelled a meeting with the Theme Park management?

A: Yes. I don’t know. The PNSB management should know. They sent a Recce team there earlier and everything should have been okay.

Q: Why couldn’t they just call or e-mail to fix an appointment? Why do they have to go all the way there to fix the programme?

A: All this was decided by the management. I am the chairman (of the board) and they are the ones who set the programme and I just go for it. In fact sometimes the programme just comes to my table where to meet etc and I just follow. I did not ask for this and that. The PNSB management decided and I just followed. (The nerves of this man..at this point he still thinks us the rakyat are dumb)

Q: The Canal Development project between Sungai Kuala Langat and the Klang River is not something new. It was already proposed in 2006 and universities like UKM and Uniten have already had papers on it and discussions on the concept.

A: Yes, but after one year, the officers still did not understand the technical things about how to manage river development and all that. They wanted to have a look at what it is. That’s why I brought the technical team to study and look in detail water feature developments. A year ago we had already completed the concept of the canal city, only after this (concept paper) was completed that we go and visit.(Then that prooves there is a problem here with the recruitment of dumb staff, doesn't it? After 1 year and they still dont get it?)

Q: And why not just bring the experts down to Selangor to train the officers?

A: The thing is the technical group here do not understand the concept. They want to have a look at such projects themselves so that is why we brought them there. Besides, bringing consultants and experts down would be more expensive. The canal project is about RM1bil and foreign consultants and experts would cost about 18% of that. And that does not even include the cost of flying them down. Another thing too is that we also need to expose our officers because they are the ones who are going to approve the project. These departments need to see the project otherwise they won’t approve. (If you ain't got the expertise, just by a field trip you'd expect these dumb flers to be subject experts. Hmm I'm impressed considering they don't understand a simple concept after 1 year being the 'experts'.)

Q: How come PNSB paid RM110,000 for your presidential suite in Honolulu?

A: I am not sure. It was all organised by them. And I didn’t ask. I didn’t even get to enjoy the suite or the facilities. I just used it for sleeping. I returned from the programme at midnight and by 8am I am up. (You never question the amazingly high expenses incurred?)

Q: People are shocked by the RM1.7mil spent for the Disney trips?

A: That was decided by the management. I am actually a very simple man. I do not ask for these kind of things. Maybe they said as a chairman, that is my entitlement and they did that.(I'm at a loss for words - this is even funnier than reading Archie Comics. -I'm also a simple girl and my dad gave me RM1 mil yesterday but I did not question the purpose of him giving me this money, bcos I am a simple girl!)

Q: You say you are a simple man but people would disagree because you fly first class and stay at expensive presidential suites?

A: You must remember when I was the (PNSB) chairman. I have my entitlement. If I were to reduce my entitlement to what an officer gets then what is the officer going to reduce to? I am the chairman. There is the deputy chairman, board of directors, government officers going along. If I fly business class (not first class), then what happens to my state secretary? He will complain. If I am travelling alone it is easier. But I am travelling with a group of people and if I downgrade myself - it’s a problem for the others. But I never ask (for the pricey presidential suites or first class flights). Whatever they provide, I go along with. I just tell them to give me a full itinerary on these trips. I want a full programme with investors and companies. (Doesn't he understand that the rakyat will only look up to a leader who promotes equality?? And if the tea lady goes on a company trip, where would she be seated?)

Q: But isn’t the RM1.7mil spent on the Disney trips wasteful?

A: No. The trip has so many purpose. Look at the effect, the officers got good exposure. (Maybe after this trip they can finally tell the difference between Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck) And we get to bring investments to the state. Usually when I go on these trips, my programme is packed from morning to midnight to visit companies, factories, business associates, governors. That’s how we have increased the state’s investments from RM4bil a year to more than RM6 to RM7 bil a year. The RM1.7mil spent used proper channels and we got RM50bil investment (over the last eight years). If we spend RM5 mil for trips but it brings in RM50bil worth of investment, what’s wrong with that? Just look at Selangor now. The RM11.8bil last year was the result of my investment not Pakatan’s. They just try to take credit for it. But now investments have dwindled to RM6bil. I worry that it’s going to wind down to RM4bil. And we used to get RM17mil from sand mining but when PKR took over the state, they got only RM3mil. And they promised the people that they could collect RM250mil for sand mining. As far as I am concerned all the trips I made bring a lot of development to Selangor and introduced new concepts. The ideas come from these trips. I stopped over in Dubai for few days because I got the Sepang Gold Coast idea from Dubai’s The Palm development. I don’t know why the state cancelled the River Canal City project. They should proceed because it can spur the economy.

A: As far as I am concerned I paid for my maid and children. I don’t know why she (Datin Khairiyah) would say they paid. Maybe she is against me. And why would the management pay? I paid for the flights. So why did the PNSB management pay again? Look, I am the chairman. I am not the management so I wouldn’t know if they paid for it again or not. But the management should take responsibility for that. They shouldn’t pay my personal expenses or flight tickets for my maid and children. If they pay for my family and don’t inform me, how am I supposed to know they did that (because I am not part of that decision making process). (You mean you don't know if you realize your credit card statements do not contain the particular transactions?)

Q: KDEB also paid RM17,000 for tickets for Balkis to go to China to buy artificial flowers and caps there when the company has a branch in Kepong. Why waste money when the ordering could have been done in Kepong?

A: I really don’t know. But it must have been approved by the KDEB management. It might be cheaper to fly there and order it from there. You know how cheap things are in China. What costs 10 sen there costs RM10 here. I know my wife very well. She is very careful about accounting. She’s far-sighted and always thinking about how to save money. Perhaps that’s why she bought so many flowers and caps for the welfare programmes one shot - to save money And she gets really frustrated when the public thinks otherwise. (This has to be the funniest so far! Then the least she could do it order directly from the factory in China and have it shipped here? Some ppl just have no brains don't they?)

A: We have to give them something special from Selangor. Every state is doing that. That’s normal.

Q: Why did PNSB give you a Patek Philip watch worth RM159,000?

A: I told them they shouldn’t have done that and I turned it down immediately. It was too expensive a gift. I was quite surprised. I never asked for anything that’s why I returned the watch. I told them you better sell the watch back and get the money back. (Wah so humble- then give to me lor!)

MALAYSIA BOLEH -LAH!
